Services
Katie Astoria and the Modern Muse Beauty Team are available for both in-salon and on location services within the Greater Austin area. If your wedding or event is outside the Greater Austin Area, travel fees may apply. Please inquire about pricing for travel.
- There is a $350 service minimum for onsite weddings and events.
- Additional fees may apply to events on Sundays and holidays. Holiday weekends will be quoted on a case-by-case basis.
- The Modern Muse Beauty Team can service your wedding party, no matter how large or small. For large parties, additional artists that are not part of the MMBC team may be needed. We can arrange for the additional artists to join us for your wedding. For any in-salon or on-location services on large parties, there is a $100 fee per additional artist needed. The $100 fee covers setup/take-down, their travel fees, their onsite fees, and compensates us for our time arranging for them.
- We will leave as soon as the last person is ready. If you would like someone to stay to do touch ups or to take out the veil etc. we will do so at a rate of $50/hour. Please let us know so we can plan accordingly.
- We require a 50% deposit of the entire service total secure your date. All deposits must be made via one payment, and can be done by cash or credit, over the phone or at the salon at the time of your trial run. All deposits will be applied to the grand total on the wedding day.
- 90 days prior to the wedding day we will send a finalized contract with the final list of services for the wedding. At this point any cancellations will result in a loss of deposit.
- Final payments for the total balance must be paid at least 48 hours in advance of the event. Payments may be made in cash or by credit card.

A trial run is a good idea, both for you AND us, because it gives you a chance to see what your hair and makeup will look like on the wedding day, and it helps us make sure we understand completely what your desires are! It also allows us to estimate timing for your services on the wedding day. If you have pictures of looks that inspire you (or that don’t!) please bring them to your trial. We ask a lot of questions at your trial, and we expect you to have a lot of questions as well. Our goal is to make sure we have a very solid idea of what will make you the best version of yourself on your big day!
We don’t recommend it. The trial run is for us to play around with a few different looks, and this may mean the final look is not as fresh as it would be if we had done it from scratch. We want you to look perfect on the day of your portrait, and a trial run beforehand helps us make sure that happens! Trials also generally take a little more time, and we don’t want you to feel as though you didn’t get exactly what you were wanting because you needed to rush to make it to your portrait appointment.
We are proud to offer Hand-Tied Extensions, Sew-In Extensions, and Tape-In Extensions as in-salon services. We provide a complimentary consultation extension services (booked separately from any wedding trials) and can give you a price quote for these amazing extensions that will last you from planning to honeymoon! Please request a consultation at the time of booking.
We also work with many other kinds of hair extensions and have no problem styling your hair with your extensions, whether they are clip in or bonded/sewn. We can attach clip-in extensions as a part of your wedding styling. (additional fees may apply.)
Your makeup application includes false lash application (single use strip lashes) if you choose. We ask that you select and purchase your own strip lashes and bring them with you to your appointment. We also LOVE when brides get lash extensions and we highly recommend them! Please let us know if you desire lash extensions, brow microblading, or other esthetics services, so we may connect you with one of our recommended artists.
No problem! We love it when a bride decides to take the plunge and go for something a little different for the actual wedding day. We can certainly use what we did at your trial as a jumping-off point to change the look to whatever you prefer. Additional test runs are suggested.
At this time, we do not offer volume discounts. However, there may be additional savings for you and your party to come into the salon for wedding day services; these are quoted on a case by case basis.
We can host your entire party at the salon where we’re based (Lighten Up Salon and Spa). We are also totally mobile for services onsite at the venue, bride’s home, hotel, or other location. Please see above to learn more about onsite weddings/travel fees. If you need us to come to another salon for any of your services, please inquire with that salon their policies about bringing outside artists into their facility.
A courtesy hold will be placed on your wedding date when we’ve had a chance to gather all the details of your day. We proceed from there to form a working contract including all services leading up to and including the wedding date. Once we have received your deposit AND signed contract, we will secure your date. All deposits will be applied to the final balance.
